Quantum Global Campus hosted a National Conference on Advanced & Sustainable Computing Techniques (ASCOT-2012)

In the never ending chain of educational activities, Quantum Global Campus, Roorkee organized a grand National Conference on “Advanced & Sustainable Computing Techniques (ASCOT-2012)”. In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. J.P. Gupta, Vice Chancellor, Sharda University, Noida said that by organizing a National Conference on such an ultra-modern subject, Quantum Global Campus had set an example before other Technical Institutions. He added that Quantum has emerged as a seat of excellence in Technical education in Northern India on account of its fine management and skillful administration. He emphasized that creative thinking and critical thinking should be developed in the student by the teacher and apart from academic excellence, a student should grow into an ideal human being also.

 

Prior to it, the guests, invitees and participants were offered a heart touching welcome with showering of petals of flowers on their arrival at ‘Shyamji Auditorium’ by the faculty and students. The management of Quantum honoured the guests by presenting flower bouquets. The Director General, Dr. S.C. Handa unfolded the multi-faceted personality of the Chief Guest in his introductory lecture. Talking about the ASCOT-2012, Prof. Handa informed that 51 Research Papers would be presented at the conference, out of which, three had been received from USA. Mr. Ajay Goyal, the Chairman of Quantum honoured the Chief Guest by giving him a memento. He alsooffered a hearty welcome to the very special guest, Prof. D.S. Chauhan, the Vice Chancellor, Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun by introducingby giving details of his very impressive career. The Founder President of Quantum, Shri Shyam Sunder Goyal Ji honoured Prof. Chauhan with “Life Time Achievement Award” for his exemplary services and unique achievements in the field of science and technology.

                                                                                                                                                    

 The very special guest Prof. D.S. Chauhan said that a student should not be a book-worm only but he should also take steps to use his knowledge in real life situations. He gave them the slogan – ‘Be HUMANE’.

 

The Chief Guest, alongwith other dignitaries, inaugurated the National Conference by lighting the lamp in honour of Goddess of Learning ‘Ma Saraswati’. The girl students took the function to the musical height with their melodious ‘Saraswati Vandana’ and graceful dance. In his inaugural address the Chief Guest Dr. Gupta praised the management and administration for organizing National Conference on a very current topic of great importance and utility. A very colourful, graceful and thrilling Folk Dance performance by the Q-mates brought to life the rainbow coloured culture of India on stage.

At the concluding moments of the inaugural ceremony, Er. M.S. Gupta, Dean-Academics of Quantum School of Technology expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the guests, invitees and the delegates for sparing their precious time for the occasion and assured them that the Quantum would continue to organize such educational functions in the future, too. Dr. Joshi delivered a very scholastic and motivational address on ‘Cloud Computing and Research Challenges’. The whole house gave Dr. Joshi a rousing appreciation.

 

The time schedule of the National Conference, organized by the Computer Science and Information Technology department, was broken up into five sessions. The keynote speaker at the First Session was Dr. Durga Toshniwal, whose topic was ‘Time Series Data-Mining Techniques and Challenges’. At the second session on the same day Dr. M.K. Sharma was the keynote speaker. The third session was addressed by Dr. Kumkum Garg as the keynote speaker. The fourth session was presided over by Dr. Manoj Misra and the final session was addressed by Dr. P.K. Garg as the keynote speaker.

     

 At the closing ceremony, the Chief Guest Dr. R.C. Joshi, Chancellor, Graphic Era University, Dehradun was offered a rousing welcome in Quantum. The keynote speaker at this session was Dr. Rama Bhargava.

In the end, the HOD of Computer Science Department Mr. N.S. Chetty summarized the activities and achievements of the National Conference.Addressing the closing ceremony, the Chairman of Quantum Global Campus, Mr. Ajay Goyal said that Quantum recognized and welcomed every novel socially useful Research Paper and Innovative thinking whole heartedly. The delegates had honored our institution by presenting their Scholastic Research Papers. The Director General, Dr. S.C. Handa thanked all the honourable Guests, invitees and delegates in making the National Conference a great success and said that their sweet motivating memories would linger long in the heart of Quantum.
