Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, recently organized its three-day continuous mega celebration named “Cognizance” a Technical Fest in its own aesthetically designed campus, which was entirely immersed with more than 150 technical events and a lot of innovative events that consisted of Robowar competition, Technical Seminars, Junkyard, Car Racing, Photography Exhibition and many other interesting events.
The event that was a part of the rush hour segment was Robowar competition in which a team of the engineering students from Quantum School of Technology, Roorkee namely Ashish Kumar Singh, Team Leader, Ankit Singh Bisht, Himanshu Sharma, Bhanu Partap Bawari and Rishabh Sha, grabbed the first position in the competition “Robowar” against 50 teams from all across the nation.
The Competition was all about searching for the ultimate hands- on team with great design minds who can explore their potential and implement technical skills in the right direction. Robo competition was named “Armageddon”. Out of 50 teams of the renowned technical universities and institutes from all over India, 9 teams were selected for the semi final round. 3 teams entered the final round of the competition where they had to wage in a 10 minute’s Robowar.
The team of Quantum School of Technology, Roorkee named their Robo fighter “TYRO” who defeated the last year’s winning team and won the title of the “Armageddon” 2014.Formerly this team participated at Jodhpur University’s Annual Technical Fest where they reached the final, but unfortunately, at the last moment their Robo developed some technical problems, due to which it did not function properly. Consequently they had to be satisfied with a third rank. But this mishap taught the team a lot and they made necessary improvements in the design of Robo for future competitions.
The event tested the participants’ ability of racing against time, team spirit and practical knowledge about basic mechanical principles.
More than 20,000 students from across 80 colleges from around the country were present at the venue. A few of the colleges who participated in the fest included BITS, Pilani, Goa, IIT, Delhi, Kanpur, Lucknow, NIT, Allahabad, Kurukshetra and many more reputed colleges.
The overwhelming crowd at IIT “Cognizance” welcomed the winning team from Quantum School of Technology with a huge round of applause.
The Secretary Of Quantum Global Campus, Roorkee Mr. Shobhit Goyal, congratulated the students for their performance in the tech festival and expressed his happiness on their success. He further assured that the winning students would be awarded prizes at the upcoming “Dharohar 14”, Annual fest of the campus.
During interaction, the winning team of Robowar competition ascribed their success to the Technical Training, Workshops, Training Sessions and continuous efforts of their college faculty and workshop assistants which were the most helpful tools that helped them in attaining this success.
On this achievement for the college, the Director General, Dr. S.C Handa appreciated the winning team and said “Quantum is committed to explore and strengthen the students’ hidden talents and can go to any extent to brighten the career of Q-mates”.
